Nestlé Toll House opened up their Downtown Vancouver location in February last year after the closure of their other BC locations. Known for their delicious ready-to-bake cookies and chocolate chips, Nestlé has a reputation of knowing their sweets.
I came into the café with no intentions of purchasing anything but the large “Ice Cream Sandwiches” advertisement caught my eye. I love Nestlé cookies and wasn’t about to pass down a good old ice cream sandwich. Even though it was 0 degrees outside, I was pretty pumped to give it a try!
I chose to order a mini version of the sandwich and the size was true to its name. Very mini! There was a lack of selection in terms of cookie choices and they only had a few mini ones left. I made my choices out of what was left: Double chocolate chip and M&M. The ice cream, on the other hand, was plentiful and there was an array of options to choose from. I made a safe choice and picked cookies and cream.
The total for both ice cream sandwiches came to $7.56 ( coming to around $3.78 each, including tax) and you get a large scoop of ice cream and two mini cookies of your choosing. I assume that the cookies were not fresh, as there were few left in the display, but they still had a nice chewiness to them. The ice cream was standard and comparable to a tub of ice cream that could be found at a local supermarket.
Nestlé Toll House Café was definitely a cool experience and is a must try if you love their products. Although they have a large menu, their selection of baked goods was lacking and left me with little options. The price was not too bad and I would return with the hopes of trying different flavours of their baked goods if they had the selection. Overall a nice treat for those who have a sweet tooth and are looking for a quick dessert.
